Affresco staccato trasferito su telaFresco removed and transferred to canva, 247 x 153 cm., anno 1448 - 1451

The work is part of the Cycle of Famous Men and Women, a series of frescoes painted for Villa Carducci in Legnaia between 1448 and 1451.
The frescoes are developed in groups of three, for the three walls in question: the first group represents political figures, the second is dedicated to historical female figures, the third to Florentine men of letters. Giovanni Boccaccio is portrayed here, in a heroic position, almost simulating a statue. The background against which it stands out, reproduces a marble slab, and all around is drawn the niche, also marble.
